Here is a really nice Bottle Bannerstone made from some Wisconsin Soapstone I picked up at a knap-in this spring. It has some cracks running through it, but I believe they are "healed" as a flintknapper would say. It survived the boring process, and I didn't baby it.
I believe if it was going to break, it would have broken then.
This type of bannerstone was pretty commom in the mid-west.
This banner weighs 3.7 oz and the hole is just under 9/16" dia. Rivercane makes excellent Atlatl handles. |
