A lot of the material I choose to work does not allow for taking large spalls, but I got some very nice size spalls from this beautiful 17 pound rough of Oceanwave agate/Jasper. I made this Killer Dalton with the biggest one. Super smooth flake scars, very glossy luster, material feels great to the hand. Very regular surface, and straight from a profile view (and of course a front view). The coloration brings the word "cosmic" to my mind, and are even richer in person. It's awesome. I don't usually take progression pics, because as it is, I take more pics then most people anyway, and I only have so much patience. Aha. But this point took me a few days, so I did take a couple for this one, and they can be seen in the last picture.
Spalled from a 17 lb rough of Oceanwave with a solid headed copper hammer, bifaced and preformed with solid copper round, preform faces finished with fine indirect percussion, pressure for basal thinning.
