This point is what is called in some arrowhead books a 'Snake River dart which is a point type found on the Columbia Plateau and Columbia River. Basically they are a contemporary Plateau version of an Elko point, common in the great basin and tend to be smaller, my narrow and often serrated. This one is made of a local jasper found near The Dalles OR and is actually a light purple in color rather than the tan shade the digital camera assigned to it. |
