This replica Sierra Miwok arrow is copied closely after one in the Peabody Museum at Harvard. The shaft is made out of syringa and is slightly barreled like the original. This arrow has fine cut lines around the tip and the cresting area done with horse tail rush like the original. The double notch side notch point is made of black obsidian and held in place with pitch and diagonal lashings of sinew. The fletch is canada goose lashed with sinew. Red ochre and black soot are used for the crest pigments. The black band has little sparkles in it which is finely ground hematite which looks like glitter. When sprinkled onto the paint while still wet it looks exactly like the sparkly material on the old original arrows. Many thanks to Billy Berger for figuring out how that was most likely done and passing it on to me. I guess these old Miwok guys liked "bling" on their arrows as it's a common trait on their arrows.
