This replica arrow is based on some originals I've seen that came from the Pit River Shasta or the Achomawi peoples from Northern California who bordered the Modoc just to the south. The main shaft is made out of syringa and the fore shaft from wild rose which is glued into place with pitch and the joint lashed with sinew. The point is jasper, held with pitch and sinew and the fletch are peacock wing feathers which resemble raptor feathers and are glued down with hide glue. Red earth ochre is used for the crest, applied with the fingers to form a spiral and green pigment is used for the bands in tthe center. This arrow has long shaft grooves that extend out onto the fore shaft which are then heated and help prevent the shaft from warping. I need to bump the price up on these since the post office introduced absurd new shipping rates on over sized parcels |
