This arrow is a close copy of one Ishi made after he came out of the wilds in 1911and lived in San Francisco. It is carefully copied after Hearst Museum Specimen # 1-19865. When in 'civilization' Ishi liked using birch dowels and turkey feathers along with bright commercial paints similar to his old crest designs he used while still living in his homeland. The shaft is commercial dowel, the point is obsidian and is very closely copied after the original one on the arrow. It is held with hide glue and sinew lashings as are the wild turkey wing feathers. Ishi made and shot arrows like this one with Saxton Pope after they became acquainted. I will ship this in a sturdy shipping container |
