This replica Hupa arrow is modeled after one I saw in the Smithsonian. It has an unusual double barbed point made out of elk leg bone with hollowed out triangular sections in the middle painted red on the inside edges like the real one. Took a long time to make! The main shaft is syringa with three straight grooves like some CA arrows had to help retain their straightness. It also is ringed with horse tail rush rings near the tip and the back. Red and blue trade pigments are used for the cresting. The fletchings are male peacock wing feathers oil painted to resemble red wing hawk tail feathers. This type of bone point was very time consuming to make.
