I made this red obsidian Humbolt point out of a large flake that came off of a big 15" blade I was making to honor and give to a flint knapper friend who was in hospice. He passed a few days ago right after the big blade was given to him and will be sorely missed. I did this Humbolt point while out at the glass buttes knap in about a week ago along with the big blade. Its the only piece of this bright red obsidian material I kept from the big knife waste flake pile. This one was all percussion and pressure flaked from scratch. Kind of a meaningful piec, at least t me. |
