I was sort of just goofing around winding down after a long day when I made this point. It was made from a lop sided flake of red sunset jasper so I made it a bit more asymmetrical like so many of the originals were with one barb longer than the other. I ran the notches deep and left the stem more of a pointed 'nub' which was common on the old points as they were pitched into the arrow nocks and sinewed anyway I made the serrations rather large and coarse and when it was done it looked an awful lot like the old ones do. Some Kalapuya points in the Southern Willamette Valley looked like this although not as common as they are in Southern Oregon. Good thing its diamond signed as I do on all my work! |
