Dimensions: Blade is 7 inches and overall length is 11 inches
Here's a real showpiece from one of the craft's finest hands. Rick Tollett — known to the community as Steppingstone — has turned out a gorgeous double-edged knife in rainbow obsidian that's as much art as it is tool.
The blade runs a full 7 inches of beautifully worked volcanic glass, with clean, consistent pressure flaking along both edges and that deep, glassy black finish obsidian is famous for. Catch it in the right light and you'll see the iridescent sheen that gives rainbow obsidian its name — purples, greens, and golds shifting just beneath the surface. Truly something to see in hand.
The handle is a natural antler tine, fitted and wrapped with rawhide at the hafting junction for a solid, traditional attachment. The whole piece measures 11 inches overall — well-balanced and substantial in the hand.
This is a display-quality piece from a maker with serious credentials. Rick's craftsmanship speaks for itself, and rainbow obsidian of this size doesn't come around often.
