This unique piece is completely hand made from natural materials.
Combining primitive elements with exotic materials and traditional Japanese style, this sword is a true anachronism.
The sword is hand carved from a Giraffe canon bone (lower leg). The handle is then wrapped with traditional brain tanned buckskin (made by Two Wolves) over Monitor Lizard skin for a beautiful effect of color and contrast, in the traditional Japanese Tsuki-maki style wrap.
The scabbard is also hand carved out of a gorgeous piece of North American Poplar showing a rare amount of dark wood. The "Tiger in Bamboo" was then burned on by hand using professional pyrography tools. As it happens, the "moon" in the top right is an actual knot in the wood that just happened to be there, and the dark wood contrasting with the light suggests a shoreline the tiger is approaching.
Both blade and scabbard were lovingly sanded by hand and rubbed with mineral oil.
The very nature of this sword makes it a one-of-a-kind piece. We may make similar items, but no two look, or feel, alike. This sword is sure to be the center piece of your collection, and certainly a conversation piece that will keep on fascinating any who look at it.
All the materials used in the construction of this piece were acquired legally and ethically from animals within the USA.
