Eccentrics are free formed pieces of lithic art. The Mayans are famous for their eccentric work, which was thought to be used mostly ceremonially. Today, not many flintknappers create eccentrics. The breakage of these delicate pieces can be high, making them more challenging to create.
I enjoy creating these for the challenge, and also to create something different and unique. Every piece unfolds as I flake it, with no preconceived notion of the end result. As with all of my lithic art, this one is signed and dated with a diamond tipped scribe.
