A museum quality showpiece for your home or office (3 pieces). This large 11 inch, hand crafted, mountain man knife set was constructed from a complete adult North American Coyote skull and a large chunk of Berlington Chert. The large, rugged blade was percussion flaked with some minor edge pressure flaking and shaping. It is secured to a full coyote lower jaw that has been reconstructed to form a perfect and unique handle. The handle and blade have been antiqued to look aged and authentic. It fits perfect in your hand and feels solid! This is a 3-piece display.
The matching skull stand has been carefully detailed to bring out the realness. The skull is securely mounted to a rugged piece of Basswood with the bark intact. The knife has been properly balanced to rest nicely on top of the skull or stand on its own.
The custom made belt sheath is reminiscent of the simple functional lifestyle of our ancestors. It is made of thick elk hide and is adorned with a coyote toe bone closure with 2 rawhide ties for closing the wrap. There is a long black horsehair lead with coyote foot bones. The sheath has been antiqued to match the knife set.
The attention to detail is amazing. Pictures do not come close to giving this piece justice. This knife has been made to last generations. There is nothing that will rot, dry out, or come unglued. The 3 dimensional look and the solid feel will compliment any room. All teeth are present and perfect in both pieces. This is a heavy, solid Mans Knife.
