I started flaking this point and discovered there was rainbow flash hiding down inside of it. Its kind of a pale silver glint with not a lot of color to it but it lights up nicely at the right light angle. After percussion flaking it and then finishing it with pressure I left the edges and the flake tracks looking much like the originals, slightly wavy and irregular but razor sharp. Some of these large Crump Lake Northern Side Notch points were probably used for hafted knives similar to how the large eastern dove tail points might well have been once used. |
