The blade is rainbow obsidian (I think “Aurora” would be more appropriate) that in bright light iridesces with bands of pastel blue and a hint of pink, and some light green. The handle is Picasso marble from a new source in Arizona (to the best of my knowledge most or all Picasso until now comes from a quarry in Utah). This particular piece became quite dark during the finishing/polishing process. In subdued light, many of the features of this highly figured stone are apparent. Add bright light and they become vibrant! There is so much going on with this knife that you will want to be careful not to get lost in it and forget that it is sharp, pointy and fragile! |
