JV chert is a Precambrian hydrothermal chert that was associated with the iron dome near the powarsii site in Platte co. Wyoming. It’s a paleoindian ochre mine. I acquired a few buckets from a test excavation below the site that turned out to be historic fill from modern mining. I’m selling these two points together because one is raw and one is heat treated to apx 325f. I’ve never seen a material change so drastically at such low temps. I prefer it raw, and I’m not thrilled with this work (reflected in price) , though the points are fair. The smaller (raw) point is 3 1/16” and the larger heat treated is 5 7/8” |
