This large Elko point is of a type sometimes found in SE Oregon's Warner valley. Some of the Elko points in this region were oversized and well made. This is similar to actual originals I've seen with a wide base, deep notches and fine serrations with a needle tip which a few of these points had. This one is made out of a greenish obsidian that looks like Burns Oregon green but is from a different western state. It was really hard to photograph. It has splotches of greenish and dark blue-black coloration in it. The photos don't quite do it justice but you get the idea. |
