This dagger point is made out of a pretty dark green jasper. It might be India blood stone jasper but I'm not sure. There were some deposits of green jasper the Native peoples made these out of on the Columbia plateau in north central Oregon. Dagger points were highly prized, usually made out of colorful materials, and were often fastened to necklaces and were thought to be a kind of warrior status item as a few necklaces made with them have been found. They were not hafted onto arrows and shot. |
