Primitive Art - Giraffe Bone Japanese Crane Tanto
This unique piece is completely hand made from natural materials.
Combining primitive elements with exotic materials and traditional Japanese style, this knife is a true anachronism.
The Tanto is hand carved from a Giraffe canon bone (lower leg). The handle is then wrapped with traditional brain tanned buckskin (made by Two Wolves) over Monitor Lizard skin for a beautiful effect of color and contrast, in the traditional Japanese Tsuki-maki style wrap.
The scabbard is also hand carved out of a gorgeous piece of North American Poplar. The "Crane in Bamboo" was then burned on by hand using professional pyrography tools.
Both blade and scabbard were lovingly sanded by hand and rubbed with mineral oil.
The very nature of this knife makes it a one-of-a-kind piece. We may make similar items, but no two look, or feel, alike. This tanto is sure to be the center piece of your collection, and certainly a conversation piece that will keep on fascinating any who look at it.
All the materials used in the construction of this piece were acquired legally and ethically from animals and plants within the USA.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This knife is a piece of art and NOT a weapon. Bone is fragile and the item is intended for display purposes ONLY! Any damage to the piece incurred after delivery of the item is the soul responsibility of the buyer. |
