Blade is made from beautiful pumpkin obsidian. Handle is made from alabaster and gilded with 24 karat gold leaf! Crushed stone inlay is lapis lazuli and turquoise.
Egyptians would use percussion to thin the knife, then both sides would be ground. Only one side was pressure flaked and tiny cutting serrations were made to complete the edge. Gerzean knives were found in royal Predynastic tombs.
This modern knife has the tiny cutting serrations as well. PLEASE READ THE HANDLING RECOMMENDATIONS that are listed in the pictures! GOLD LEAF IS DELICATE AND VERY THIN! For this reason, I recommend this knife for display only.
