Had some inquiries about this style point that I made and posted a while back so here's another one made out of a cranky piece of mookite jasper and of a smaller size like some of the old ones were. As I mentioned in a previous post I had someone send me a pic of a group of them in a preliminary arch. report the likes of which I've not seen before included the pic below. The site was apparently along the big bend area along the Gila River. They look like a cross between SW Gatlin points and Hohokam's with scalloped edging on some but I don't know if the two types were affiliated and there's nothing quite like them in the well known Norton Allen collection from that area. Apparently the after the initial excavation the researchers lost their funding to do further digging when the great depression hit and apparently the site was later destroyed during agricultural development. |
