Had a customer send me a pic from an old early 1930's unpublished site report in a special library collection that had some unusual points the likes of which I've not seen before. I included the pic below. The site was apparently along the big bend area along the Gila River. They look like a cross between SW Gatlin points and Hohokam's with scalloped edging on some but I don't know if the two types were affiliated and there's nothing quite like them in the well known Norton Allen collection from that area. Apparently the after the initial excavation the researchers lost their funding to do further digging when the great depression hit and apparently the site was later destroyed during agricultural development. Its not known where the points are housed today. So, naturally I had to make one. Guess I could call this kind a 'Gatlin-Hohokam' This one is made out of nice yellow Oregon sunset jasper. Took forever to make. It'll go quick. |
