I was digging through some material in my knaping stuff and came across this piece of what I think is Burlington Chert that was given to me. It had been roughed out into a preform so I got myself into a percussion flaking mood and made this, a Fulton Turkey Tail blade. Not something I normally do as I prefer western lithics but then its fun to mix things up and see how thin one can get the rock without breaking it. It didn't go for extreme thinness on this but its still pretty thin. Just a plain vanilla white but if this thing was hafted it could cut up a deer easily as I finished the edge with pressure. |
