The Tribute point this one is modeled after came out of the famous Oklahoma Spiro mound, out of what was called the 'Craig mound in the Spiro mound complex, excavated in 1933 if I got my facts right. Its made out of a colorful piece of Ohio flint ridge that is pale mottled green with an orange tip and white and orange tinged base. Its quite thin since it was made from a thin flake to begin with. These points vary and there were other sub types found in the mound as well. This one is bigger than the well known Pete Bostrom (Lithics Casting Labs) cast of an original but I wanted to leave it longer to keep the orange tip on it. The digital pic doesn't show the green color as bright as it actually is but you get the idea. Not made one of these in quite a while so I figured, its time. |
