This paleo era Haskett point is made from a piece of Nevada dacite, a type of gray obsidian if you will.. Its completely percussion flaked from a raw chunk then retouched with collateral pressure flaking. This kind of precise percussion is tricky to do but the old ones I've seen I think were mostly done that way. Its thought that they continued to resharpen them as the tips got banged up in use. Haskett points are thought to be as old if not a bit older than Clovis so its a very old point type that dates way back. Had a lot of responses on the last one I did so I thought I'd make another available.
