I had a number of extra Columbia River points that I made for the Knapping calendar that didn't end up in the photo shoot so here's one of them. However.......this one is a multi barbed point carved from elk antler. Quite a few of these elaborately carved bone and antler points have been found along the river and were actually used. Wakemap mound on the WA side of the Columbia just upstream from The Dalles produced quite a few bone points akin to this one which is modeled off a real one. I don't make these often and they're a LOT of work. Much easier and quicker just to chip a point! |
