This sharp little Cahokia from Mike Cook is a gem — three inches of clean, classic form in some absolutely gorgeous cross-grain petrified palm wood. The material is the star here: that tight, polka-dot fossil pattern in cream and chocolate is unmistakably palm, and the cross-grain orientation gives the piece a lively, almost textured look even before you pick it up.
Mike's work speaks for itself. The blade is nicely thinned, the shoulders are crisp and squared, and the stem notches are clean and symmetrical. Tip is intact and sharp. A great example of a knapper who respects both the type form and the material he's working with.
Petrified palm wood Cahokias don't come along often — this combination of maker, type, and material is hard to beat.
