This is a big Thebes point made from heat treated Keokuk chert. This point was made from a twisted spall and I tried to keep it as big as possible. As a result, the point is both twisted and non-symmetric just like most of the authentic ones. The goal of the ancient knappers was to make the biggest knife they could from the rock they had. This is what I've attempted with this point. The notches were done using an antler punch. This gives them the distinct look that the old ones had as well. No copper was used to make this point. |
