This deep notched Desert Side Notch point is made from a piece of agate from Nevada that is called "Hole in the Wall Agate". This material is a fairly clear with a pale yellow hue in color and has been found traded far and wide and was even used by some Clovis and early man people. The yellowish tint is hard to see in the pics but is there. The point style is based on a number of unusually deep notched late period points found in the Central Oregon region. I've included a third photo of an original one of these types of original points I was able to photograph. They seem frail in design but they were made and used, probably by the local Northern Paiute people |
