And now for something completely different. This is called an African Fan Eared point, a type found in the neolithic in sub Saharan Africa. There are many types of points found in this region but this is one of the most unique types that was a bit of a challenge to make. Almost like a kind of exaggerated African Gunther variant when you think about it. This one is made out of colorful Flint Ridge material. Its fun making points from other parts of the world now and then, I posted a picture below of some originals below from Pete Bostrom's lithic casting labs.
I can't help but wonder....will my favorite imitator start making some of these points too like he always does with so many of my other point types I've introduced on FK and sold? It’s always amusing…...stay tuned! |
