This copper crescent knife or Ulu is based on several similar prehistoric examples found throughout the Lake Superior region and would have been used for skinning and food prep.
This ulu features a hand carved Aspen split handle, its natural curve fits nicely in the hand. Overall this piece measures 4 5/8 inches wide and about 5 inches measured from the top of the handle to the bottom of the blade. The whole knife weighs 7.3 ounces (including approximately a 1/4 pound of copper).
