THIS PIECE HAS A GREAT STORY WITH IT!
The English Flint started out in England and was transported over to America in the 1700's or 1800's as ballast stone in a ship that probably carried lighter weight finished goods. When it reached its destination in the Great Lakes the ballast stone was discarded, the goods unloaded, and the heavier raw materials were then loaded on board for their transport back to Europe. Recent dredging of parts of the Great Lakes exposed the flint nodules on the shore for rock hounds to discover, and me to purchase for flintknapping into this arrowhead. What stories it would tell if this rock could talk!
Note, the delicately narrow bridge of stone between the notches is 1/8 inch wide.
Shipping and handling in the Continental U. S. is $4.50. |
