Nodena Point in Fossilized Tree Fern by JKnapper

This Nodena-style arrowhead is made out of the fossilized trunk of a tree fern (variety Tempskya) that grew in what is now Oregon about 120 million years ago. Although somewhat difficult to see in this example, the ovals in the stone are the roots and water passageways within the trunk of a now-extinct variety of tree fern. The last photo shows the structure of the outer "bark" of the Temskya tree fern. Very unique...
