Porter's Custom Handmade Knives |
|
My knife handles come from the finest craftsmen in the country.
I then offer them at the lowest possible costs to flintknappers and knife makers who don't specialize in, or can make time for, crafting their own knife handles. While the majority of my handles are elk and deer antler, I also offer one from exotic materials including buffalo horn, Rosewood, deer, coyote and other jaw bones, and more rare antlers such as moose, caribou and axis deer.
Some feature carvings by Rob Roberts, R2rockz Art Studio, the finest antler artist in the country. Nearly each handle has a different and fantastic end cap with materials ranging from fine woods to fossilized dinosaur bone millions and millions of years old. My handles range from the smallest to the largest possible for flintknapped blades.
My flintknapped blades, obsidian, jasper, agate and other stone, also come from skilled craftsman like those found in FlintKnappers.com.
The knapper of each blade is clearly identified. Blades are available for knappers who may need one of a particular color, size or style he does not have immediately available. Or, hobbyist knife makers who don't knapp their own blades can find ones that suit their preferences and budgets.
Of course, I offer my own knives with handles I crafted, or handles crafted by others, but I buy all my blades from the most experienced and qualified knappers, and order at my wholesale rate from Premium Knife Supply . My speciality is precision hafting of both knapped- and steel-blade knives to handles that best compliment the blades. To do so, I maintain an inventory of 50 different styles and sizes of steel blade blanks also available to customers.
In order to have the latest and greatest styles of steel blade knives, I have both full-tang and hidden tang steel blanks. Although the full-tang blade blanks require more cutting and grinding than the hidden tang blanks, they work just great and provide hidden tang knives that are otherwise unavailable to customers. While the vast majority of my blade blanks are 440C high carbon stainless steel with a mirror or satin finishes, I also offer San Mai, Alabama and other high quality Damascus blades. I have a few lower quality blades because they come in styles not otherwise available.
Whether it's a great, solid knife handle, knapped or steel blade, or finished knife, I provide each.
