Flintknapping DVD’s by Jim Winn These DVD’s are a project that I started in the summer of 2007. These were originally posted on YouTube in an effort to share some of the skills that I have learned over the years with other flintknappers from around the world. Since posting these on YouTube I have received many requests and inquiries about obtaining these videos on DVD’s. These DVD’s are exactly the same as the videos I have posted on YouTube. However, these were copied directly from my Digital Camcorder onto each DVD and are therefore much higher quality and have far better resolution than the ones posted on YouTube. You can check them out on YouTube at the link below: Jim Winn - http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=paleomanjim These DVD’s vary from 1 hour 43 minutes to 2 hours each.
That’s almost 12 hours of Flintknapping video covering a multitude of
flintknapping subjects |

| Big obsidian blade - Made from a large slab of Davis Creek rainbow obsidian. This blade was made by using light percussion to remove the square edges and shape the blade. This was followed by one pass of pressure flaking using an Ishi stick, and minimal retouch to the edges. The parallel oblique flaking pattern is nearly perfect on both faces. Blade has a velvet color in bright light. Some of my best pressure work. Shipping and insurance $12 on this blade. |
Dalton - Made from rare Missouri Crescent chert. Bands of red white and blue! An all American Dalton. |
