This is a peice of Black rock I dug in Somerset,Ohio in 2004-05 and it is the biggest peice I've ever found on the surface down there. There are a variety of colors of chert where I dig in Somerset which leads me to believe this is also called Brush Creek or Four Mile Chert. Everything I dig down there I chip raw out of the ground I have never had to heat treat anything I have dug in Somerset. This is a beautiful replica of an Ohio Dovetail, a one of a kind peice. Beautiful percussion scars,fine edge work and the base is ground with a quartz inclusion running through the center of the point crosswise. When I notched this point the cones came out perfect for the point being 7/16" thickness.
